As promised, YARN PORN! I took a trip to Artfibers on Monday to pick up a few things. I got some yarn for a scarf for Jonathan's mom, and some for a scarf for my friend Alicia. And then I bought 10 balls of green Chaucer, called Killarney (the same color as the scarf I made), for a sweater. Friday I was told they were discontinuing that yarn, so I wanted to snag it fast. I also grabbed 8 balls of Oz in Ecru. I was told they may be discontinuing that too, and it was such a disappointment since I had fallen in love with how luxurious it was. Oz is made up of Extrafine Angora, Lambswool, and a little bit of Nylon. It's soft, fuzzy, and oh so yummy. I'm planning on making a cardigan with it. I also picked up some Oz in Treeline, a mix of blues, purples, and greens. Jonathan's mom picked Oz in Ruby for her multidirectional scarf. And Alicia picked out Tryst in Sea Change, a mix of blues and greens, for a long, skinny multidirectional scarf.

All told, I bought $300 worth of yarn. Since you get discounts for buying large amounts, I saved 25%, and only paid $225 (plus about $19 of tax) for the whole shebang. That means I got about $75 worth of free yarn!!! Just about enough to make a sweater out of the Oz. WooHoo!

Now, for the pictures. Warning, extremely graphic yarnage ahead!

And for added pleasure, I present a few extra shots of yarn that's already been fondled and manipulated.

And as if all of that weren't enough, I just bought the Knitware Sweater Design software (which they use at Artfibers, and I really like) from Joanne at Imagine This Productions. The cost was $45, and shipping was free. Herrschners also has it, for the same price, but you'll pay about $9 for shipping. I highly recommend you pick up the program. And if you do, get it through Joanne, who seems very nice and was quick and responsive to my emails. Even still, check out her website for knitting machines, a yarn winder at a good price ($30), and Knitwares other two programs (Skirts/Shawls, and Critter/Pet clothes), as well as other goodies.
