I went to Stitches West on Saturday, and quite frankly, wasn't impressed. Sure, there was lots and lots of yarn. But, for paying $7 a head (Jonathan came with me -- he's such a sweet boyfriend) I guess I expected there to be some great deals. Most of the stuff I looked at I found myself saying "I could get that cheaper on the internet." I did walk away with some Cascade 220 in green, cream, and purple to make another Lily Bag. And I picked up some Crystal Palace Cotton Chenille to make the flower washcloths from Weekend Knitting with -- though I could have paid less on the internet for that too. Part of my disappointment was that I didn't realize initially that there was a fee to get in. So, I ended up paying $14 for Jonathan and I to get in, just to look at and buy stuff. Argh.

On the plus side, I did get to see, in person, a few yarns I had been looking at online. And a couple of them I ended up not liking, so I'm glad I never ordered them. Also, I wanted to make one of those Boob Tube Warmers but couldn't find Noro Big Bebe anywhere. And since I didn't know exactly what it looked/felt like, I was unsure about finding a suitable replacement. One of the booths there had this "yarn playpen" which was kind of cool. It was this big thing filled with bags of yarns at 50% off. I found Bags of Big Bebe in there for $55/10 skeins. However, I didn't like any of the colors. So, I at least got to see and feel it, so now I can find something else.

I'm almost finished with the scarf for Jonathan's mom. I would have finished yesterday, but some how I ended up with a weird hole in the side, and too many stitches on the needle. I still can't figure out how that happened. So, I was working on ripping out a few rows yesterday evening, and I was getting pretty pissy because it wasn't going as easy as usual. But, I finally fixed it, and should have it done by tomorrow.

I did notice something about the multidirectional scarf pattern though, that I hadn't noticed before. When you start, it makes a little triangle on the edge. But, at the end, you can't duplicate that. The direction of the rows don't change when you start decreasing for the end of the scarf, so the two ends look different. I wonder if I'm doing something wrong, or if that's just how it is. I'd like to figure out a way to change that, because it's a little annoying to me.
